Home Care – Part 1

Everything you’ve wanted to know about Home Care but were too afraid to ask.

                   True or False?                                                         Answer

Home Care is available to assist my loved one with hands-on needs like bathing or showering.

True! Home Care is a service that provides assistance with activities of daily living. This includes bathing or showering, grocery shopping, meal preparation, transportation, and more. Home Care supports individuals in the needs that they can no longer do on their own, but they simply need someone to help.

Home Care is a service that I can request for a couple of hours a week.

True! There is no set amount of hours that you are required to hire Home Care. We’re available 365 days per year, 24/7, including weekends and holidays, at your scheduling discretion. Home Care staff can be hired for one hour a week or for round-the-clock care.

Home Care can’t be provided alongside other services like hospice.

False! Because Home Care is a privately paid service or paid through Long Term Care Insurance, it does not conflict with services paid by medical insurance. So, those receiving hospice, palliative care, home health, or any other service in the home, can also receive Home Care.

I have to do something to qualify for Home Care.

False! Any individual in need of assistance with daily living can receive home care services. There is no clinical requirement or diagnosis that makes you eligible for services.

I have to be local to hire Home Care for my loved one.

False! Home Care services can be requested by anyone, anywhere, as long as the individual receiving care lives in one of the counties we serve, which include: Henderson, Transylvania, Polk, and Buncombe counties. If you live out of town or out of state and need someone to care for your loved one who lives in our community, we are happy to provide that service and communicate with you about their care.
